Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about the Grove, membership, Dudeism, and how this all works.
What is Little Lebowski Church?
Little Lebowski Church is a Dudeist-inspired community organization dedicated to rest, play, creativity, fellowship, and stewardship. We're building a real physical space — The Abiding Grove — while gathering online and at events in the meantime.
What is The Abiding Grove?
The Abiding Grove is our long-term vision for a community eco-campus — a real place with bowling lanes, trails, a maker space, fire circles, a food forest, and gathering areas. It's a project in progress, funded by supporters, sponsors, events, and community effort. Membership itself is free.
Is membership free?
Yes. Creating a member account is completely free. You get access to the member area, events, quests, teams, volunteer sign-ups, and community features. No payment required.
Do I have to donate to join?
Absolutely not. Donating supports the Grove's physical build-out and is always appreciated, but it is never required for membership or participation. You can join, volunteer, earn Abide Coins, and participate fully without donating a cent.
How do I volunteer?
Create a free member account, complete the quick onboarding, then visit your member Volunteer portal. You can browse available shifts, sign up, and earn Abide Coins for your time.
What are Abide Coins?
Abide Coins are a recognition unit for verified contribution. Published rules can award them for activities such as volunteering, events, quests, tournaments, qualified referrals, and eligible financial support. Coins cannot be bought directly, and every earning path is subject to its published verification rules and caps. Your Abide Level is calculated from verified lifetime coins.
What are Quests?
Quests are seasonal community challenges and activities. They might involve volunteering a certain number of hours, attending events, or completing specific tasks. Completing quests earns you Abide Coins and special badges.
What are Teams?
Teams are member-created groups that participate together in tournaments, quests, and events. You can create or join a team, earn points together, and compete on the Grove leaderboard.
What is Dudeism?
Dudeism is a philosophy and religion inspired by the fictional character The Dude from The Big Lebowski. It emphasizes taking it easy, going with the flow, caring for others, and not letting the aggravations of the world harsh your vibe. Learn more at dudeism.com.
How does financial support work?
New support payments use Stripe-hosted Checkout. You can choose one of seven monthly or yearly support plans, make a suggested one-time contribution, or enter another amount. Payment-card information is handled by Stripe and is not stored in this app. Existing Givebutter supporters remain supported during migration.
Does financial support change my membership or buy an Abide Level?
No. Church membership is free and remains separate from financial support. A contribution does not purchase membership or an Abide Level. Eligible verified support linked to a member may earn Abide Coins under the same published rules and caps used by the coin system, and levels are calculated from verified lifetime coins.
Are contributions tax-deductible?
Contribution confirmations do not currently state that contributions are tax-deductible. Tax-status and receipt language will be updated only after the organisation's applicable status and policy are confirmed. Please consult your own tax adviser for personal tax questions.
How do I subscribe to the newsletter?
You can subscribe on the Newsletter page or from the Join page. We use our own signup form — your preferences are saved locally and synced to our mailing list. You can also opt in during member onboarding.
